The funeral services celebrating the life of Mrs. Mary Loucien Lou Anderson, 100, of Waukomis, will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday July 15, 2017 in the Waukomis United Methodist Church with Reverend Kris Mayberry officiating. Burial will follow in the Waukomis Cemetery. A family visitation will be held Friday July 14, 2017 from 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. in Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
Loucien was the daughter of Carl and Rena Cline Wehling, and was born June 30, 1917, on a farm near Bison, and passed from this life on July 10, 2017 surrounded by family. She grew up on the family farm, homesteaded by her father at the opening of the Cherokee Strip, and attended the area Freedom School, graduating from Pioneer High School in 1935.
She and Fred Anderson Jr., were married on September 9, 1936, in Enid. They farmed in the Waukomis area. Loucien united with the Waukomis Methodist Church, September 21, 1941 and was baptized by Reverend Emanuel Holmberg. She was a member of the Methodist Womens Group, U.M.W. and church circle. She was the Waukomis Methodist Church historian from 1991-1995. She belonged to Lions Auxiliary. She was a member of the Pleasant Workers Group and received her fifty-year pin for service. She served as President in 1996. Loucien was a past volunteer of Meals on Wheels for Waukomis residents. In 1971, she was a certified Nurses Aid and would care for people in their homes.
Loucien is survived by her son; Gene and wife Glenda Anderson of Waukomis. Nine grandchildren; Dr. Mark and Giorgia Anderson, Elizabeth and Capt. John Nyquist, Deborah and Bruce Terrice, Pam and Dave Conley, Dr. Paul and Julie Anderson, Rebecca and Chris Tito, all of the Detroit Metro Area; Dr. Tim and Betsy Anderson, of Athens Ohio, Jeff and Lanee Anderson, of Waukomis and Jenny and Steve Elliott of Norman. Twenty-Three Great Grand Children, Three Great Great Grand Children as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Fred, eight brothers; Clarence, Enos, Ted, Charles, Ermil, Jack, Dale and Glen, and sister; Tura Snyder and one Son, Dr. Oran Anderson and his Wife Mary.
Memorials may be made to Waukomis United Methodist Church or the Hospice Circle of love with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
