OBITUARY

ENID — Dorothy L. Kutz, 80, beloved wife and mother, was called home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011. Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Enid, with Rev. Wade Burleson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Dorothy came into this world July 26, 1930, in Stillwell, Okla., to Joseph “Chickilla” Fishinghawk and Ada Lee Fishinghawk. She grew up among many relatives and friends in Stillwell.

She moved to Enid, Okla., and attended Longfellow Junior High School. She also attended Enid High School, where she ultimately met Ivan Kutz. He wooed her with his “scooter” and by their senior year in high school they fell in love and decided to get married. They were married at Calvary Baptist Church in Enid on Aug. 20, 1950. This was a union that lasted 55 years. In the first years of the marriage, husband Ivan was sent to Korea and was honorably discharged and returned home to the friendly confines of Enid, to his wife Dorothy and son Jim.

In the years that followed, Dorothy attended Enid Business College, where she honed her skills in typing and shorthand and various other secretarial skills. She used these skills by working for several lawyers and businessmen. She worked for Champlin, along with the duties of a housewife. Three more children followed in the next few years to total four children. After this, Ivan requested that Dorothy stay home and raise the children.

Along with being a full-time mother, Dorothy was active in Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority, where she performed many community service activities. She also was active at First Baptist Church and later she went to Emmanuel Baptist Church, where she and husband Ivan taught Sunday school. When the children were grown, Dorothy found time to work at “Fairyland” Children’s Clothing store, where she purchased many clothes for her own grandchildren. This job gave her the chance to spoil the grandkids with top-of-the-line clothes. Dorothy’s countenance was most noted by her sweet personality, a personality that never complained or gossiped about troubling situations. She never had a bad word to speak about anybody, rather, she would focus on positive things concerning her family and friends. Dorothy will be remembered for her kindness and attention to all of her family members and it should be noted that she had a renewed since of love and adoration for her new great-grandchildren that have recently followed into this world.

Dorothy is survived by her children: Daughter, Kae White and husband Mike of Edmond, Okla.; daughter, Patti Elliott and husband John of Edmond, Okla.; son, Tim Kutz of Enid, Okla. She also has eight grandchildren: Ted, Kathy and Darren White, Issac and Cari Elliott, and Yvette MacDonald. Also, Harrison Kutz and Olivia Kutz Clements. She has three great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter. Dorothy has one brother, Joe Fishinghawk of Tahlequah, Okla., and brother and sister in Law, Jerry and Barbara Erwin of Enid, Okla. Her extended family includes Bruce and Mary Schulz and children, Hank and Aisley of Enid, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan, and her son, Jim.
