Joan G. Kroll, 78, of Perry, was the daughter of O.W. and Ruby (Hayes) Sharkey.
She was born Dec. 29, 1928, in Nash, and died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, in Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
On Feb. 5, 1950, she and Johnie Kroll were married in Enid. She was a 1969 graduate of Oklahoma A&M and worked as a dietitian in Perry Memorial Hospital. Joan enjoyed cake decorating and traveling to various locations to compete in cake decorating contests. The Tulsa Sugar Art Show was named in her honor. She also was a seamstress and enjoyed needle work and ceramics.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the International Cake Exploration Society.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Christ Lutheran Church in Perry. The Rev. William Metz will officiate. Committal services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery at Enid. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home of Perry.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Okla. 73077. In addition to her husband, Johnie, Joan is survived by one son, Johnie Keith Kroll of Coweta; one daughter, Arline Wagner and her husband, Marvin, of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; her twin brother, Jean Sharkey of Weskan, Kan. and two sisters, Barbara Kirby and her husband, Jim, of Perkins and Billie Rickard of Medicine Lodge, Kan.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, O.W. and Ruby Sharkey and one son, Clayton Kroll.
