Services for Enid City Engineer Dwight D. (Whitey) Killam, 45, who died in a local hospital Monday, will be at 2 PM Friday in the Henninger – Allen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Williams officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Killam was born and reared in Enid and graduated from Enid high school in 1941. In 1942 he married the former Dorothy Nutt.
He first began working for the City of Enid in 1939. During WW II he served with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and returned to work for the city after the war.
Killam worked for a time at Vance Air Force Base and returned, in 1950, to work for the city. He served as assistant city engineer until 1961 when he became city engineer.
Killam was active in Boy Scouts work and served as Scoutmaster at Trinity Methodist Church. He was a member of the American Legion, the National Society of Professional Engineers, and a member of the Trinity Methodist Church.
He is survived by his widow, Dorothy of the home at 1202 S. Washington; a daughter, Kathy, of the home; two sons, Robert J., stationed with the USAF in Turkey; Donald, of the home; his mother, Mrs. Leona Killam, Vancouver, Washington; two sisters, Mrs. W. J. (Hope) Osborn, Alexandria, Louisiana, Mrs. B. V. (Anita) Jungemann, Duluth, Minnesota; three brothers, Rance and R. L. of Portland, Oregon, Marvin, Enid.
The casket will not be opened following services.
