NILA L. EMMONS

Funeral services for Nila L. Emmons, 84 year-old Enid resident, will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2009, at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home with Rev. Alan Seibel officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
Nila was born April 18, 1924, in Jet, Okla., the daughter of William Henry Swinton and Myrtle Mae (Farr) Swinton and died Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at Highland Park Manor.

Nila married Clarence Emmons Sept. 14, 1947 at Vance Air Force Base Chapel. They were stationed at different bases with the Air Force before settling back in Enid in 1962.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and cooking. Nila was a homemaker but also worked at Marquis Studios finishing photos and worked in the cafeterias of Longfellow Junior High School and Ruby's Day Care Center as a cook. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Dawn Emmons of Enid; one son, Charles Emmons and his wife Carolyn of Jonesboro, GA.; one grandson, Jason Maxey and his wife Diedra of Enid, their two children, Kaylea and Kenzie Maxey; one great-grandson, Andrew Maxey of Dallas, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Emmons; one son, Larry Emmons; one infant son and daughter; one grandson, Clint Maxey; four sisters; and four brothers.

Memorial contributions may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation with Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home acting as custodian of the funds.

(NOTE: Two children of Clarence & Nila Emmons (an infant son & daughter Kimberly Dianne) are buried in Timberlake Cemetery, Alfalfa County, Oklahoma. Also preceding her in death were sisters: Thelma Havill, Mary Hair, Lois Lewis, & Pauline Tripp and brothers: Alva, Everett, Oliver, & Bill.)
