A Celebration of Life for Elsie Mae (Wright) Edwards, age 93, is 2:00 pm, Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Williams to officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Elsie was born May 8, 1925 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Raymond and Inez (Saeger) Gillenwater and passed away May 11, 2018 in Rogers, Arkansas.
Elsie graduated from Enid High School in 1943. She married Charles Therman Wright October 2, 1943. He preceded her in death on March 12, 1984. She married Vernon D. Edwards on May 3, 1986 and he preceded her in death May 31, 2000. She retired from Union Equity on January 1, 1989. She was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church, since 1945.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Inez Gillenwater; two brothers, Arthur McGowan and William Gillenwater.
She is survived by two children, son, Steve Charles Wright and wife Terri, of Yukon, OK; daughter, Janet Brown and husband Ron, of Rogers, AR; three grandchildren, Ryan Charles Brown and wife Allie, of Fayetteville, AR; Amanda Jones and husband Chris, of Edmond, OK; Jennifer Doyle and husband Jon, of McAlester, OK; two step-daughters, Karen Baker and husband Tracy, of Enid; Kristi Newton, of Enid; and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorials in Elsies name may be made to Calvary Baptist Church with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
