Funeral service for Gary Len Eckhardt, 59, Enid, is 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2018, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Chapel with Gene Long officiating. Committal prayers and interment follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, under direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Visitation with the family is 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday evening, March 16, 2018, at the funeral home.
Gary was born November 7, 1958, in Enid, the son of George Sr. and Bertha Mae Murray Eckhardt, and passed away peacefully on March 10, 2018, in Enid. He was raised in Enid. After schooling, Gary worked in the oilfield. In 1980, Gary started Gary's Roofing and was owner-operator until his retirement in 2002. He loved tinkering with cars and fishing. He was always there for anyone in need of his assistance. Gary married Sharon Denise Slaton in Enid on January 7, 2018.
Survivors include his wife Sharon of the home; mother, Bertha Eckhardt, Enid; sons, Brett and wife Karrie Eckhardt, Enid; Dustin Eckhardt, Enid; and Michael Howell of Enid; daughter, Tessa and husband Paul Thomas, Enid; grandchildren, Blaine and Bryce Eckhardt, Enid; Jayden and Caleb Thomas, Enid; Teagan and Gracie Howell, both of Enid; sister, Teresa Willems, Enid; brothers, George Louis and wife Allison Eckhardt, Jr., Stratford, Missouri; Steven Ray and wife Cyndee Eckhardt, Jet, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in passing by his father, George Sr. and sister, Patricia Ann Higgins.
