A Celebration of Life for Verlin Smith, 87, Enid will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Jarrod Cloud officiating. Interment will follow in the Enid Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today, Feb. 25, 2016, at the funeral home. Verlin passed away from renal failure Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016.

Verlin was born Aug. 29, 1928, in Goltry, the son of Ben and Susie Koehn Smith. He was united in marriage to Sue Smith on Oct. 26, 1985, in Enid, after decades of loving companionship. He was employed as a heavy equipment mechanic and self-employed truck driver. He enjoyed stock car racing from 1951 thru 1983, and was nicknamed “Kisser Smith.” In later years, he enjoyed Nascar Racing and watching the Oklahoma City Thunder. Verlin will be remembered for his smile.

Survivors include his wife, Sue; five children, Francis (Judi), Goltry; Darrell David (Terry), Enid; Sharon Wagner (Donnie), Enid; Verlin James (Pam), Enid; Cindy Smith, Wichita, Kan., a step-daughter, Shawna McWaters-Khalousi, Oklahoma City; and an adopted son, Eskay (Raz) Shazryl, Oklahoma City; 20 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Loretta Lynn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, or the American Diabetes Association with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home custodian of the funds.
