Elmer Leroy Russell passed away Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, after living a full and joyous 90 years. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Ladusau-Evans Chapel. Pastor Walter Martinez will officiate. Burial will be in Enid Cemetery, accompanied by Honor Guard and Veteran salute. Visitation is 6-7 p.m. today at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Leroy was born Sept. 28, 1922, in Enid, Okla., to Oliver Monroe and Jetta (Shores) Russell. Leroy was united in marriage to Wilma (McNickle) Russell on Jan. 31, 1949. Through their union, they were blessed with four loving children.

Leroy entered into the Army Air Corps at the age of 17 and served 22 years of active service. He was a proud veteran of two wars, defending and protecting our country. He was in active combat during World War II, assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific front as well as the Korean War. After retiring from the Air Force, he joined the U.S. Postal Service and retired following 20-plus years of service.

Leroy is survived by his daughter, Judy Russell and son-in-law Carlos Diaz of Sugar Land, Texas; daughter, Dolores Russell and son-in-law Gus Ortega of Weatherford, Okla.; son, Mark Russell and daughter-in-law Carmie Russell of Edmond, Okla.; and daughter, Debbie Russell and son-in-law Mark Chillag of Coppell, Texas. Leroy was very proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who loved their grandpa very much. His grandchildren include Graham Russell, Michaelyn Russell, Alex Diaz, Kailyn Chillag and Sarah Chillag. His great-grandchildren, which were the love of his life, include Braylyn Russell and baby Lillian Diaz.

Preceded in death include his wife, Wilma, and his parents, OM and Jetta Russell, as well as his loving sister, Maybelle Henderson. Leroy was a devout Christian who loved and praised our dear Christ and Savior. He will be missed by all that knew him.
