May 1, 1889 - October 18, 1926

Samantha Ellen Stanton Matthews, 1127 E. Randolph, died Monday morning at 10 o'clock in a local hospital. Her death followed an illness of three weeks though her condition did not become serious until Friday night when she was taken to the hospital where she underwent an operation on Saturday morning. She was 36 years old and has been a resident of the city for six years.

She is survived by her husband, G. I. Matthews, who is president of the Local Loan & Investment company, and three children, Earle, 17; Merle, 13, and Virginia, 6. She also leaves her parents, seven sisters and six brothers who live away from Enid.

Funeral services were held this Thursday morning at the fFrst Christian Church, conducted by Rev. Roy Snodgrass. Burial made in the Enid Cemetery.
