Ralph Sanford Lawson

September 12, 1940 - June 18, 2021

The funeral for Ralph S. Lawson, 80 year-old Enid resident will be 10:00AM Wednesday, June 23, 2021, in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Tony Tolle officiating. Burial will follow in Enid Cemetery.

Ralph was born September 12, 1940, in Enid to George Lawson and Betty (Kelley) and died Friday, June 18, 2021, in St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. He attended local schools and graduated from Enid High School with the class of 1961.

On January 28, 1965, he married Lila Marie Meritt and the couple made their home in Enid. Ralph worked with the Enid News and Eagle for over 55 years before ill health forced him to retire last year.

He was an avid fisherman, liked to bowl, but mostly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

He is survived by his children, Kellie Pitts and husband David of Seminole, OK, Chris Lawson and Cory Lawson and Yvone Young, all of Enid. Two grandchildren, Kelsie Pitts and Kiersten McCormick and husband Aaron , all of Seminole. Two great-grandchildren, Lila and Levi and one sister Ethel Lawson of Enid, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lila in 2002, one brother Robert, and one grandson Trenton Shaffer.

Memorials may be made through Henninger-Hinson to the Shriner's of America.
