Funeral services for Mrs. James (Mattie Evelyn) Kerns, 74, will be at 4 PM Friday in the Henninger – Allen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marvin Ward and Rev. C. K. Bellas officiating. Burial will follow in the Enid Cemetery under the direction of Henninger – Allen.

Mrs. Kerns died Tuesday afternoon in a local hospital following a lengthy period of ill health.

A native of Hugo, she moved to Garber in 1927 and to Enid in 1933. She was a member of the Church of God.

Survivors include her husband, James Kerns, of the home at 207 S. Fourth; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Griffith and Mrs. Barbara Phelps, Pomona, California, three sons, James Ray Thomas, Pomona, Gene Thomas, Hennessey and Johnny Thomas, Garber; 23 grandchildren and several great – grandchildren.
