May 19, 1930 - July 10, 2019

The Graveside service celebrating and honoring the life of Leroy Arthur Garard. 89, of Enid, Oklahoma will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday July 14, 2019 in the Enid Cemetery with Pastor Allen Garard officiating. A family visitation will take place from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Saturday July 13, 2019 in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

He was born May 19, 1930 in Rockford, Illinois to Jennie Ratze Garard and passed from this life on July 10, 2019 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He was raised and educated in Rockford, Illinois. He married Barbara Hurst, his wife of over 64 years on April 15, 1948 in Nevis, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Rockford Illinois for forty-five years and then in Shelbyville, Illinois for an additional ten years. They moved to Enid, Oklahoma in 2007. He worked as a truckdriver and contractor/builder before retiring in 1986. He had a passion for being dependable and trustworthy. He loved to work with his hands and turn ordinary things into extraordinary things. But most of all he absolutely loved his family.

He is survived by five sons, Allen Garard, and wife Sue, of Springfield, MO., David Garard, and wife Pam, of Shannon Ill., Mark Garard, and wife Beverly, of Enid, OK., Clair Garard, and wife Jane, of Trumbull CT., and Dan Garard, and wife Teri of Charleston, SC., one daughter, Dawn Leaderbrand, and husband Kenneth, of Fairview, Ill., twenty-one grandchildren, twenty five great-grandchildren, and 2 great, great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, one daughter, Fonda Raelean, and his wife, Barbara Garard.

Memorials in his name may be made to Sovereign Grace Baptist Church, Missions Fund, with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
