Evelyn M. Ward
May 29, 1938 - April 21, 2011

Funeral service for Evelyn M. Ward will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2011, at Oakwood Christian Church with Rev. Eric Keller officiating. Burial will follow in Enid Cemetery under direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Evelyn was born May 29, 1938, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Joseph and Celia Bautista. She passed away Saturday, April 16, 2011, in Enid, Okla.

She was raised in Los Angeles and attended Belmont High School. In 1956 she worked as a telephone operator. In 1978 she moved to Enid, Okla. In 1991 she moved to Joplin, Mo., to be near family. She moved back to Enid in 1994 and worked as a private home health care provider. She enjoyed working as a nursery volunteer at Oakwood Christian Church.

She is survived by son, John Ward and wife Kirsten of Washington; son, Steve Ward and wife Julie of Jasper, Mo.; daughter, Diana Prevatt and husband Jeff of Enid, Okla.; daughter, Denise Cantrell and husband Frank of Cleveland, Okla.; and son, Chris Ward and wife Karen of Huntington Beach, Calif.; close family friend, Rex Dahlin; sister, Carol Mendizabal; and 21 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Mark Allen. Memorials can be made to Oakwood Christian Church Nursery Fund, Oklahoma Medical Research, cancer division, or the memorial of donor's choice with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
