Dolores J. (Russell) Ortega
June 15, 1953 ~ Jan. 18, 2015

Graveside memorial service for Dolores J. Russell, 61, of Weatherford, Okla., will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at Enid Cemetery Chapel. Service is under direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory, Enid.

Dolores was born June 15, 1953, in the Philippines, at Clark Air Force Base, to Elmer and Wilma Russell and died Jan. 18, 2015, in Oklahoma City.

Dolores traveled to different military bases with her family before returning to Enid, Okla., in 1965. After graduating from Phillips University, she began her 30-plus years teaching career at Enid High School and retired from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Okla.

Dolores was always the ultimate caregiver throughout her life and enjoyed helping not only her immediate family but anyone who just needed a loving hug or a helping hand. She always offered emotional support to all whom she met along her life's journey.

DJ's loves of her life throughout her years were her many nieces and nephews whom she adored tremendously. Even though she didn't have children of her own, she considered Graham, Michaelyn, Alex, Kailyn and Sarah as her own and was especially looking forward to spending more time with her grand-nephews and grand-nieces Braylyn, Victor, Lily and Clara.

Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Gustavo Ortega, and her parents, Elmer and Wilma Russell.

Dolores is survived by her sister, Judy Russell (Carlos Diaz), Mark Russell (Carmelita), and Debbie Russell (Mark Chillag).

DJ, you have always been an angel for us on earth. Now you are one of God's angels in Heaven who will continue to guide us each day - until we meet again!

Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Lupus Division, with Anderson-Burris Funeral Home serving as custodian of funds.

Guestbook is at www.andersonburris.com.
