August 31, 1933 - July 5, 2023

The graveside service for Geneva E. Martens, 89-year-old Enid resident is 10:00AM Tuesday, July 11, 2023, in the Enid Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Chaplain Gail Edmison will officiate.

Geneva was born August 31, 1933, in Hitchcock, Oklahoma to Hugo and Esther (Hoffman) Burdghardt and died Wednesday, July 5, 2023, in Golden Oaks Nursing Home. She attended local schools and graduated with the class of 1951. She then obtained her AS in business. On March 1, 1953, she married Daniel "Dan" Martens in Hitchcock. The couple made their home in Enid.

Geneva first worked at Vance Air Force Base as a payroll accountant for 17 years. Later she worked at the Enid State School for 9 years, and then as a clerical supervisor for DHS for 38 years, retiring at the age of 78. She was a long-time member of Bethany United Methodist Church, where she attended bible study and sang in the choir.

She was a member of the American Women's Business Assn., the Public Employee Assn., where she gave speeches at convention. She enjoyed working in her garden and bowling.

She is survived by her son Michael Martens of the home and a daughter Diana Jean Beall of Wichita, KS. Four grandchildren; Dustin, Brooke, Stephanie, and Elliott.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dan, a son Bradley Carl Martens, and two brothers.

Memorials may be made to OMRF (Alzheimer's Division).
