Mary Giles, a clerk at the Enid land office.
Wife of Walter Giles and mother of James E. Giles
========================================

Mrs. Mary Giles, mother of J. E. Giles , was found dead in her home near Enid, Monday. She had been murdered sometime Sunday. She was 84 years old and lived alone.

Mrs. Giles was born near Millersburg, Holmes Co., Ohio. She was married in the year 1830 and in 1869 moved to Northwest Missouri, where she resided until the opening of the Cherokee Strip, when she came to Enid, settling on her farm northwest of the city. Mrs. Giles was a member of the South Methodist church, a devoted Christian, kind, resolute and conservative. At the time of her death she was in comparatively good health, though she had grown more feeble recently, but she was able to be around, was quite strong and did considerable work. Her eye site was nearly gone but she managed to get around splendidly.

She is survived by two daughters, one son, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The children are J. E. Giles, who lives northwest of the city, Mrs. Ettie Fales of 1130 East Randolph, Enid, and Mrs. Sam Robinson of Chadron, Nebraska.
