Oma Furn ZIEMER
August 29, 1917 - February 29, 2016

Oma Furn Ziemer passed away Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at the Kansas Medical Center, Andover, Kan. Visitation for family and friends will be 2-7 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, Kan. The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2016, at First Christian Church, Lyons, Kan., with Rev. Ron DeVore and Pastor Terry Engler officiating. Burial will follow at 4 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2016, at the Covington Cemetery, Covington, Okla.

She was born August 29, 1917, in Stillwater to Frank and Lillian Johnson Brandon. She graduated from high school at Covington, and attended Enid Business School in 1935. Oma Furn Brandon married Rex B. Ziemer on January 16, 1937, in Enid. Mr. Ziemer passed away Jan. 12, 1996. Over her lifetime, she lived in Larned, Lyons, Wichita, and Hutchinson, Kan. She worked as a legal secretary for attorneys Hodgson and Woleslagel, and she was a draft board clerk for Rice County.

She is survived by her son, Robert and Charlotte Ziemer, Larned, Kan.; a daughter, Dorothy and Dr. Ronald Sprouse, Columbia, Mo.; two grandchildren, Dennis Ziemer and Chad Ziemer; and three great-grandchildren, April Loughridge, Jonathan Ziemer, Jewel Bergman; four great-great-grandchildren, Kadence Ziemer, Jesse Ziemer, Thomas Bergman, and Henry Bergman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rex; and a brother, LeRoy Brandon. Memorials may be made in Mrs. Ziemer's name to the Lyons, Kan., First Christian Church, or to the Pawnee Valley Hospital Foundation, in care of Birzer Funeral Home, 214 West Ave. S., Lyons, Kan. 67554.
