Alex Diel, 57, farmer living four miles west and a mile and a half south of Garber, was found dead at the Sterling Oil lease northeast of Garber Monday afternoon. Later Dr. James F. Tagge of Enid, Garfield County medical examiner, said he had died of a heart attack.
Diel was found at the foot of a ladder on an oil storage tank. He was employed as a gauger and apparently had been stricken as he started to scale the ladder.
Diel was born in the Breckinridge community and had lived there all his life.
Survivor include, his widow, Sylvia, of the home; one son, Robert of Enid; two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Kelley, Enid and Mrs. Duane (Anita) Showater, Garber; two brothers, Henry, Breckinridge and George, Tulsa and three sisters, Mrs. Ed Molenbrink and Mrs. Arthur Sattelmeier, Breckinridge and Mrs. J. W. Crawford of Gainesville, Fla.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, in the Breckinridge Lutheran Church. Rev. E. F. Gunther will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lutheran Cemetery near Breckinridge under direction of Anderson Funeral Home of Garber.

Funeral services for Sylvia Diel, age 84, of Garber will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Breckinridge, OK. The Rev. Richard Docekal will officate. Burial will follow in the Breckinridge Lutheran Cemetry under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Sylvia was born Sept. 28, 1913, on a farm near Breckinridge to Henry and Amelia Wiederkehr Mohlenbrink and died late Monday evening, Oct. 13, 1997 in St Mary's Hospital.
She grew up and attended school in the Breckinridge area. On Jan. 10, 1932 she married Alexander Diel in Breckinridge. They lived on the farm until his death Dec. 21, 1964. Later she moved to Garber where she lived until her death.
She was a life long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Breckinridge.
Sylvia is survived by two daughters, Ruby Kelley and her husband Don of Enid; Anita Showalter and her husband Dwayne of Helena; one son, Robert Diel and his wife Jane of Enid; four grandchildren, Donnie Showalter, Denise Kelley, Doug Showalter, and Lori Hedges; one gr gr grandaughter, 3 gr grandchildren; and one sister, Lorlene Haskins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters and one grandson, Michael Kelley.
