September 26, 1855 - February 27, 1947

Mrs. Florence Snethen, 91, passed away Thursday , Feb 27, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.V. Johnson after an illness of two and one-half months.

Funeral services were held from the First Christian church in Hennessey, at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon with Rev. H. H. Webster officiating. Two vocal selections, a solo by Mrs. Webster and a duet by Rev. and Mrs. Webster , added impressiveness to the service.

Interment was made beside her deceased husband in Bethany cemetery, near Enid.

Florence Snethen, daughter of Perry and Cordelia Palmer, was born near Clifton, Ohio , September 26, 1855 and died at Hennessey, Okla., Feb. 27, 1947 at the age of 91 years, 5 months and 1 day.

She was married to Frederic O. Snethen October 22, 1874 who preceded her in death December 2, 1927. To this union four children were born, two of whom died, one in 1892 and the other accidentally in 1893. Two daughters are still living. One daughter, wife of J. V, Johnson, Hennessey, Okla., and one daughter, the wife of Emmett Purdy, of Stillwell , Okla.

December 18, 1844 - December 03, 1927

F. O. Snethen , former resident of Hennessey, died Saturday morning at 5:30 o' clock at his home near Enid, at the age of 83 years.

F. O. Snethen was born near Covington , KY., December 18, 1844. His early life was spent in Kentucky, Illinois, and Missouri. For twenty-three years preceding his death, he had resided in Oklahoma and the last eleven years in the vicinity of Enid.

He was united with the Baptist Church at the age of 17 years and was a member of the Baptist Church at Enid at the time of his death.

He had been a member of the Masonic, Odd Fellows and Pythian lodges.

He served in the Civil War with a unit of the Union army and was mustered out at Chattanooga, Tenn.
