Lone Star Cemetery
SEC-11 TWP-18 R-22

LOCATION: 1 mile east of Harmon, 5 miles south, 1 mile east, 1 mile south and turn east again. On the south side of road.

The Carl Clary heirs were the land owners in 1910. There is a Carl Marshall Clary who was buried in 190f. It has been reported that a man by the name of Houston (possibly Elbert A. Houston) gave the land for the cemetery.

The late Daisy Dyke Wildman stated "There are many graves that are lost". Daisy kept the records and cemetery plat till her death.

Mrs. Donna Dyke Manhart gives the following history:
"I was very small when my family lived in the Lone Star area. I started school at Stone. I do remember the Lone Star School set directly across the road north of the Lone Star Cemetery. When my family went to clean and decorate the graves we always took a picnic lunch and ate at the school house. Other families would be helping too. In those days they took hoes, rakes, shovels, etc. and mounded the graves. The women and girls worked for weeks making flowers from crepe paper. I remember how to make several of the flowers. My favorite was sweet peas."

In a letter to Mrs. Manhart, Mrs. Darlene Harris Hininger White has shared additional information that her mother, Violed Dunham Harris, shared with her.

"There are 2 graves in the northwest corner (north of the Dunham graves). Their name is Hall."

"The Molloy's has 2 or 3 graves south of the Dunham graves."

"It is thought there is a grave or so in the southwest corner of the cemetery."

"Mom's Grandma Williams (Rosina Williams) placed a lot of the head and footstones of crystal glass rock for markers."

The Wildman and Manhart families and other Dyke descendants maintain this cemetery.
