Wanda Mae (Clark) Burr, daughter of Glen Laverne and Ruby Opal (Roberts) Clark was born June 12, 1933 at Buffalo, OK. She was reunited with family and friends in her heavenly home on July 27, 2019 at the age of 86. Wanda grew up in Harper County attending school at Buffalo, OK. where she played basketball, had a summer job, enjoyed swimming and town life with friends across the street or within walking distance.
In Clayton, New Mexico on March 4, 1952, Wanda Mae Clark was united in marriage to a tall young man from Dewey Co., Paul A. Burr. Sixty-seven years of love, devotion, good times and hard times, challenges and successes followed. Through thick and thin they never wavered. The newlyweds established their home on the farm homesteaded by Paul’s great great uncle and aunt in the Camp Creek community near Taloga, OK. Country life was quite a change for Wanda, but she soon became accustomed to the new and unusual experiences of being a farm wife. Paul and Wanda were active in the Camp Creek community and faithful members since 1955 of the Camp Creek Church of the Nazarene where Wanda served as a Sunday School teacher for eighteen years.
During the 1950’s the home of Paul and Wanda Burr was blessed with the arrival of three sons, Charles Lynn, Carl Dean and Alan Dale. Wanda, along with her farm wife duties, was a devoted Mother. She attended sporting events, school and church activities and had fun building and flying kites with the boys. She also completed her education and received a diploma from Taloga High School in 1972.
In 1967, Paul and Wanda moved into a new home built on the property where Paul was born. Modern conveniences were certainly a joy. From 1968 to 1979 a new adventure began as the whole family was involved in the hard work of the custom harvest business from the southern Oklahoma state line to the Canadian border. Sightseeing excursions on days when the wheat was to wet to cut were always fun and many cherished memories and lasting friendships were made during these years.
It was important to Wanda that family history be preserved and she was instrumental in securing Oklahoma Centennial Farm recognition for two Burr family properties. She also enjoyed painting, tending her flowers, quilting and was a nurses aid. She treasured time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were such a joy and attending their school activities was a priority. Wanda was a great cook and family gatherings were filled with good food, fun and laughter. From town girl to country wife, mother and grandmother, Wanda lived life to the fullest and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Ruby Clark, two beloved sons, Alan Burr and Carl Burr, her brothers, Glenn Dale and Arlie Clark and a sister, Opal DeFever.
Her memory is cherished by her husband and life partner, Paul A. Burr, her son Charles Lynn Burr and wife Kris and grandchildren, Crystal, Shawn, Heather and Brandon. Seven great grandchildren, her brother Earl Clark, other relatives and friends.
