Maxine Haney Long Merker

Maxine Haney Long Merker formerly of Miami, OK passed away Tuesday June 25, 2013 at St. John’s Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. She was 87.

Mrs. Merker was born October 20, 1925 in Big Cabin, Oklahoma to Glenn J. and Martha (Lovett) Haney. She was a graduate of Big Cabin High School and Northeastern A&M College. She was a faithful member of the Northwest Baptist Church and a resident of Miami for over sixty years. She retired in 1991 from the Department of Human Services with the State of Oklahoma. She also worked for several years for Westco in Miami. She had lived in Tulsa for the past two years.

Everyone who knew Maxine well knew of her love of the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Team and her poodle, Zippidty Do Dah.

Her greatest prides were her three daughters, six grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband Bob Merker, a sister Imogene Stanberry and her youngest daughter Tricia Long Struck.

She is survived by her daughters Sondra Long Holt of Sapulpa, OK, Janet Long Myers of Springfield, MO. Her grandchildren Lori Holt and Mike Holt of Glenpool, Seth Myers of Springfield, MO, Erin Myers of Chicago, IL, Jeremy Struck of Tulsa, OK, Kamden Struck of Hattiesburg, MS. Great Granddaugher Rylie Holt of Glenpool, OK, Her sister Betty McKibben of Memphis, TN, Her step – sister Suzane Kee of Tulsa, OK, Four Nieces Linda Troyer, Marty Kilpatrick, Shari Carter and Glenda Hesson, many loved ones from her first marriage and wonderful friends.

Funeral Services will be Saturday June 29, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Northwest Baptist Church in Miami, OK. Dr. Fulton Amonette will officiate. Pallbearers will be Dwight Helm, Mike Holt, Kelly Kilpatrick, Jimmie Murphy, Seth Myers and Reed Sequichie. Honorary Pallbearers will be Archie Coble, Bobby Lewis, Gary Long and Bruce Myers. Interment will be in Big Cabin Cemetery in Big Cabin, OK. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to Noon at the Northwest Baptist Church in Miami. Services are under the direction of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami, Ok. Online condolences may be made at Paul Thomas Funeral Homes.
