James E. Roy

Graveside service for James Elmer Roy, 83, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fort Sill National Cemetery under direction of Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service.

Mr. Roy passed away Sunday, September 15, 2013.

James Elmer Roy was born July 24, 1930 in Ava, MO to Lizetta and Lawrence M Roy.

He married Clara Williams Roy. His family was his number one interest and he never missed a family function such as birthdays, graduations, weddings and reunions.

He loved gardening, camping, hunting, fishing and once avoided jury duty by promising a judge he would take him quail hunting if he let him off jury duty.

He was retired from the U.S. Army Artillery and served in Korea, Vietnam, Germany, two tours, and Alaska. He retired from American General life insurance.

He was preceded in death by his wife Clara Roy; granddaughter Alana Jo Roy; both parents; two brothers: Darrel and Mike Roy; grandson in law Specialist Cole James Chaney and mother in law Carrie Williams.

He is survived by his three sons: Herbert Roy and his wife Judy of Del City; Travis Roy and his wife Sandy of Elgin; Edward Roy and his wife Regina of Mt. Grove, MO; six grandchildren: Damon Roy and his wife Stace of Oklahoma City; Stephanie Hughes and her husband Brent of Johnson AK, Amber Roy of Austin, Texas; Travis J. Roy of Muskogee; Jason Roy and his wife Jacklyn of Rogersville, MO; Bethany Collins and her husband Winston of Dora, MO, two brothers: Harold and Jerry Roy both of Las Vegas; three sisters: Beuhla Peterson of Wolf Point, MT; Viv Gerke of Columbus, MT, Sue Ady and her husband John of San Diego; stepdaughter Kelley Baringer and husband Steve Barringer, son Skyler Barringer and step granddaughter Krystal Chaney and her son KayCee Jack Chaney; sister-in-law Linda and husband Gary Staples of NE, and many other family and friends..

Visitation:
6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, September 16, 2013 at Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service 6210 NW Cache Road Lawton Oklahoma 73505

2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Fort Sill National Cemetery Jake Dunn Road Elgin OK Graveside Service
