Alton Lee "Jim" Burnett Of Cyril, Oklahoma Was born August 5, 1944 in Warren, OH to Glen O. and Esther B. Burnett.

He passed away at his home in Cyril, OK on June 15, 2016 at the age of 71.

Jim attended Johnston's Schools in Johnston, OH. There, he loved to hunt, fish and spend time with family and friends.

He joined the Army when he was 17 years old on January 15, 1961. He was stationed in Lawton, OK in 1964 where he met and married the love of his life, Geneva E. Burnett. He served two tours in Vietnam in 1970 and 1972. He then received an honorable discharge in August of 1973 with the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He moved to Cyril, OK and drove a truck across country for many years. He participated in the first refinery clean-up. He worked at Snider Construction for nearly 12 years as a heavy equipment operator for his friend of 25 years, Jay Snider.

He found a love for rodeo and helped build and maintain the Cyril Rodeo grounds for about 10 years. Jim would still be riding horses or working a backhoe to this day, if he was able to.

He enjoyed the people that surrounded him. If one knew Jim at all, he acted like he had a heart of stone. In reality, he was just like the rest of us; he loved his wife, his animals, wolves and rodeo knick-knacks. Most of all, he loved his friends and family.
