Julia Belle [McCann] Brown

Julia Belle [McCann] Brown was born on May 14, 1927 in Atlanta, GA to Richard and Emma Belle [DeVeaux] McCann. She died on June 6, 2014 in Lawton, OK at the age of 87.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Friday, June 13, 2014 in the Whinery-Huddleston Chapel with Chaplain Cpt Bey, officiating. Interment will follow at Ft Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, OK. Viewing will be held from 4-6 PM on Tuesday, and 4 - 8 PM on Wednesday and Thursday, and Friday at the funeral home.

Julia was raised and attended school in Atlanta, GA. After graduating from Booker T. Washington High School in 1944, she married William E. Tunstall, Sr. and relocated to Seattle, WA.

Julia worked as a hospital technician while in Seattle, but was also a full time homemaker during this period. After moving to Lawton in 1967, she found her calling as a cook at Tomlinson Middle School. Julia spent twenty years in this position before retiring in 1988.

She married Frank Brown in 1982, and became an active partner in the organizations in which he was a member - the Auxiliaries for the VFW and American Legion.

In her spare time, Julia enjoyed baking for her family and friends, feeding the birds around her home, and gardening. In addition to those hobbies, Julia was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching almost any sport with the exception of hockey which she thought was extremely rough

Julia lived a good, memorable life and left a lasting impression of love and care with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Emma Mae Pledger, and Emma's daughter, Belinda Pledger.

Survivors include her husband Frank; 3 daughters Blanche E. DeVeaux- Johnson and husband Clyde Johnson of Woodstock, GA, Julia Lee Tunstall of Seattle, WA, and Crystal Brown of Tulsa, OK; two sons, William E. Tunstall Jr. and Gwendolyn Pittman of Houston, TX, and Harold Brown and wife Sharon of Lawton, OK; grandchildren, Reggie, Shawn, Taisha, William III, Eron, Mariah and Zoe; great grandchildren, Kendell, Brianna, George III, Kaleb, Kamari, Glenys, Delanie, Tegan and Ever; a large extended family, and many individuals in her kid's lives who affectionately called her mom, and last but not least her beloved pet Riley Boo Brown.

John Charles Brown
July 29, 1946 ~ May 20, 2015

U.S. Veteran Memorial Services with military honors will be held at the Fort Sill National Cemetery located at 2648 Jake Dunn Rd, Elgin, OK 73538 at 2 pm, Friday, June 12, 2015. Arrangements by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

John was born July 29, 1946 in Pennsylvania to Charles and Rita Brown and passed away at the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, May 20, 2015.

John Grew up in Pennsylvania and shortly after high school he joined the United States Army and honorably served until his retirement from the army after a little more than 20 years of service.

On June 5, 1995, John married Norma Kehn in Enid, Oklahoma after a 10 year courtship. John's family grew with the addition of 3 step-sons. They remained living in Enid. Norma and John moved to Fairview in 2005. After Norma's death in 2007 he met his life partner Kimberly Kurns and he added one more step -son, Jesse Kurns and one step daughter, Donnice Kurns.

John is survived by his life partner Kimberly Kurns of Fairview, OK., four step-sons, Marvin Kehn, Jr. of Fairview, Gary Kehn and wife JoAnn of Enid, Bobby Kehn of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Jesse Kurns of Arizona; and one step daughter Donnice Kurns of Enid, 2 step granddaughters and 2 step grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Norma.

Fred Lee "Freddie" Brown

Freddie Lee Brown was born on July 31, 1947 in Norfolk, Virginia to Woodley, Sr and Thelma [Gerden] Brown.

He died on December 10, 2010 at his home in Lawton at the age of 63.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 17, 2010 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Lawton Congregation, located at 6602 NW Elm, Lawton, Oklahoma with Darrell Balmer, officiating.

Interment will follow at 1:00 PM, Ft Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, OK.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, December 16, 2010 from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Home.

Freddie was raised and attended school in Norfolk, VA. After graduation, he enrolled at Norfolk University where he was on the football team.

He enlisted in the US Army in 1968 and served in Vietnam. His military achievements and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, 5 Good Conduct Awards, Overseas Service Ribbon [3], and several additional awards and commendations. Freddie received an honorable discharge due to disability in 1983 after over 15 years of service to his country.

He married Lillian Rucker on January 28, 1984 in Lawton, and became an active member of Jehovah’s Witnesses with her. He has served as an Elder in the Kingdom Hall since 1997, and has developed many wonderful friends through his association with the Lawton and Middleburg, FL Congregations.

Freddie was an avid fisherman, enjoyed watching football on TV, loved traveling to visit family, and looked forward to playing with his grandchildren at every opportunity.

In spite of his health problems, he always remained positive and supportive of his family, congregation and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Timothy Rucker; and 2 brothers, Milton and Edward Brown.

Survivors include his wife Lillian of the home; 2 daughters, Teneeya Brown of MD and Camille Harris and husband Ronnie of Lawton; 5 grandchildren, Aaron and Trey Harris of Lawton, Tre’von Rucker of Virginia, and Deven and JaVaughn Brown in MD;10 brothers and sisters, Woodley Brown, Jr, Penny Harris, and Ricky Brown, all of Portsmouth, VA, Gwendolyn Brown, Ronnie Brown and wife Sandra, Betty Johnson and husband William, and Lorette Harrell, all in Chesapeake, VA, Wendy Crew and husband Daniel at Rougemont, NC, and Thelma Ricks and husband Willie and Dennis Brown, both of Fayetteville, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, extended family and friends.
