Charles Thomas "Chuck" Blandin

Charles Thomas "Chuck" Blandin was born November 22, 1926 in Madison, Kansas to Charles "Charlie" and Hazel Blandin.

He married Valeda Curry in Clovis, NM in April 1953.

He passed away September 12, 2015 in Lawton, OK at the age of 88.

Chuck survived The Great Depression and served in the Marine Corps in WWII from 1944 to 1947 in Guam. Then he joined the Army and while stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX, was the body guard for the German scientist Wernher von Braun, who was responsible for the development of the V2 Rocket, the first ballistic guided missile and also instrumental in putting the U.S. on the moon.

Chuck moved to Hobbs, NM in 1950, searching for work and camping beneath the warmth of the refinery flare. He worked in the oil field and ran a pulling unit for Albright, Lohman, Baber, and Ram Well Services. Upon his retirement in 1995, he moved to Lawton, Oklahoma, where he enjoyed fishing and working on the 15 acres he lived on.

Chuck is survived by his wife of the home and his children, Connie Walker of Lawton, OK, James [& Terri] Blandin of Hobbs, NM, Betty Sanderson of Hobbs, and step-daughters JoAnne [& Billy] Cramer of Larue, TX, step-son Chucky [& Juanita] Lowery of Hutchinson, KS, and step daughter Kay Tippery of Concord, CA, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by four of his fourteen siblings, brothers Dale and Gerald, and sisters, Patsy Niece and Phyllis Hart.

He was preceded in death by his parent, daughter Tammy, son Tommy, and grandson Richard Thompson.

Arrangements are under the direction of Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service. Visitation will on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 from 3:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be at 9:00 A.M. September 17, 2015 at Whinery-Huddleston Chapel.

Interment will follow at Fort Sill National Cemetery with military honors at 2648 Dunn Road, Elgin, OK. 73538.

Belva Valenda [Curry] Blandin

Belva Valeda Curry Blandin, Lawton, was born September 6, 1924 in Great Bend, Kansas to James Ira Curry and and Una Loye Kesinger.

She passed away July 5, 2016 in Lawton.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 8, 2016 at 10:00am at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin. Arrangements are under direction of Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service.

She leaves behind six children: Joann Cramer of LaRue, Texas, Charles "Chucky" Lowery and wife Juanita of Hutchison, Kansas, Elizabeth Tippery of Concord, California, Connie Walker of Lawton, Oklahoma, James Blandin and wife Terri of Hobbs, New Mexico, and Betty Sanderson of Hobbs, New Mexico; eleven grandchildren and many, many great and great-great grandchildren; and one brother, James "Sonny" Curry and wife Pat of Mulvane, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Charles Thomas Blandin; son, Thomas Blandin; daughter, Tammie Blandin; granddaughter, Sharron Cobb; grandson, Richard Thompson, Jr; two sons-in-laws, Bill Good and Billy Cramer.
