Carl Dean Birmingham
September 16, 1956 - October 10, 2014

Carl Dean Birmingham age 58 of Oklahoma City, passed from this Earth on Friday, October 10th, 2014 at Baptist Integris Hospital, OKC. He was born on September 16, 1956 at Lajes AFB, Azores Portugal.

Carl was the first of four children born to Virginia Ann [Delaney] Birmingham and John Walter Birmingham. The following year Eric Birmingham, the second son, was born. The closeness of these brothers would prove to be a duo to deal with during their childhood and beyond. We've heard of many of the adventures they both shared with laughter and amazement that they survived childhood. They were Brothers and best friends who loved and helped mold each other into the men they became. Two other siblings were born, Mark and Lisa, as this Military family moved from the Azores to Kindley, AFB in Burmuda then to Norton AFB in San Bernadino, CA., they moved on to Buckley AFB, Denver, CO. then finally to Blythville AFB, AR.

Carl was an avid reader of science fiction books and had a knack for science projects. His interest in science and the daring nature of being the first born proved to be the fuel of boyhood mischief and daring feats that would have rivaled any Hollywood movie. Carl certainly was a "runs with scissors" kind of a boy. He had a great enthusiasm for muscles cars as most young men his age did during the late 60's and early 70's.

Carl joined the US Air Force in 1974 and went to Lackland AFB for boot camp and then on to Bilouxi, MS. for training that would lead to a lifelong career in electronics. Carl was then stationed at Kotzebue AFB, Shemya ,Alaska. His final move in the Air Force was to Tinker AFB in Midwest City, Oklahoma.

It was at a 4th of July pool party that he would meet his future wife, Micah O'Donley. They married on August 1, 1981.Though early decades of his life were spent relocating every few years. His moving days were now over. Carl made his home in Oklahoma where he and Micah would together be blessed with four children of their own. Laurel, Nathan, Allison, and Veronicah would be the source of pride for Carl and Micah as they watched their children grow in the love and admonition of the Lord. The welfare and happiness of his family was always in the forefront of his mind.

He was employed by the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center as a Supervisor in the Biomedical Electronics shop. He also was owner and operator of Quick Connect Inc. He worked full time during the day and many hours with a crew during the evenings on contracts for low voltage electronic cabling. Long hours were worked to provide for his family. His impeccable character as a businessman, his morals and honesty, earned him the respect from other businessmen in the industry. His pleasant, positive attitude and willingness to provide leadership with a servant's heart, landed him many jobs at the state capitol, as well as,leading companies in the metro area. After working for 21 years for the OU Health science center,he was employed by Firetrol Protections Systems of OKC, and was employed there until his passing. He leaves behind many friends and wonderful co-workers.

Carl's love for God, lead him to volunteer labor for non-profit groups helping with telephone, computer networking and security issues. His gratitude to God was often shared with Psalm 40:2 that says, "He lifted me out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay and He set my feet upon a rock and established my going." God did direct his path and Carl had a great impact on many lives that were able to hear the gospel because of his efforts to help bring up to date communications for these organizations. He will be remembered for his sweet smile and pleasant countenance. His life bore the evidence of this personal relationship with His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was genuine, loyal, and compassionate. His faith gave him a boldness to share and a heart to reach those who were lost. Carl was a Godly spiritual leader, husband and father .He was a caring and a fun loving brother and family member. He leaves a legacy of love for his family to share and embrace for generations to come. Carl was to Micah, Laurel, Nathan, Allison, and Veronicah just nearly perfect. Carl was a giant of a man to many who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Virginia Birmingham, his brother Mark Steven Birmingham and special Mother-n-Law, Virginia [O'Donley] Durham.

He is survived by his wife, Micah Birmingham and youngest daughter Veronicah Birmingham of the home. Daughters Laurel Gamble and her husband Heath of Shawnee OK, Allison Marota and husband Noe of OKC and son, Nathan Birmingham of Moore, OK. One Grandson, Noah Marota of OKC. Brother, Eric Birmingham and wife Jan of San Diago, CA, and Sister Lisa Birmingham of Cary, NC, Sister-in-Law Marshah Wallis and husband Mark of Blanchard Ok., nieces Emilee Gonzalez and husband John of Tuttle, Natalee Brown and husband Jeremy of Stigler, OK. and June Persons of Montana.
