Omega Jean [Hobbs] Ballou

Birth date: March 29, 1948
Death date: February 2, 2015

Omega Jean Ballou, Lawton, was born March 29, 1948 in Oklahoma City to Millard Fillmore "Bill" and Sarah [Stone] Hobbs. She passed away at her home in Lawton on Monday, February 2, 2015 at the age of 66.

Omega was born the second child of four, to Bill and Sarah Hobbs. As the only daughter, Omega was lovingly known as Sissy or Sis.

She attended school in Elgin and graduated from Elgin High School in 1966. While in school Omega excelled in vocal music. She proudly brought to Elgin the first ever 1st place trophy from the state vocal music competition. Omega continued to enjoy singing all of her life. She sang in church, local functions and competitions. Her love of music also took her to steel guitar conventions. She loved following her favorite artist, George Strait, to many venues he played. Omega was also a huge sports fan and loved to watch the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers.

She married Larry Ballou on November 7, 1969 in Elgin. Of this union were born daughter, Stacy and son, Buddy. Omega worked a short time at various banks in Lawton. She later worked for the US Postal Service, retiring after thirty years.

Omega married David Beard on October 11, 2008 in Georgetown, TX. David passed away on January 20, 2014. She was preceded in death by her father Bill Hobbs and husband David.

Left behind to cherish Omega's memory are her children: Stacy Frye and husband James of Spring Hill, TN and Buddy Ballou of Spring, TX; granddaughter, Lacey Ballou of Spring, TX; her mother Sarah Hobbs of Elgin; three brothers: Kurtis Hobbs of Midtothian, TX, Kerwin Hobbs of Cache, Grady Hobbs and wife Terri of Royse City, TX. She also has numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
