Thomas Michael Mode

January 09, 1950 - January 11, 2017

Thomas Michael Mode of Walters, was born January 9, 1950 in Morganton, NC to Marion Lucille Powell and Thomas Mode. He transitioned peacefully January 11, 2017 in Walters following many health challenges over the last few years during which he remained a resilient fighter. Michael is survived by his wife of 17 years, Sharion Chapman Mode.
Mike retired from the US Army in June of 1994 as a Staff Sergeant with a 24 year military career. He served his country as a service member throughout many countries and conflicts, most notably Vietnam, Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
Michael received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Cameron University in May of 1998. He enjoyed working as a VA counselor with Workforce Oklahoma. Mike was an avid outdoorsman, OU football fan and passionate about politics.
Michael Mode is proceeded in death by his parents and brother, Jeffrey Lee Mode. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Mode; stepdaughter, Sheryl Empson and her husband, Rex of Lawton; stepdaughter, Judy Rogers and her husband, Gary, of Fresno, CA; stepdaughter, Linda Gallant and her husband Robert, of Williamsburg, VA; grandsons: Robert, Ricky, Alex and Andrew; granddaughters: Kelly, Heather, Lyndsey, Haylie, Katherine, Ashley, Elizabeth and Victoria. Mike is also survived by multiple great grandchildren.
Funeral service:
Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 12:00pm in the Whinery-Huddleston Chapel.
Interment with full military honors to follow at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin.
