Helen was born October 18, 1920 in Dustin, Oklahoma to Eli Calvin Halk and Della Nall Halk.  She was the youngest in a family of twelve.  Her parents and siblings all preceded her in death.  Helen graduated from Wewoka Schools in 1938.
Helen married Elbert Wayne Combs on October 20, 1943 in Wewoka, Oklahoma after a three-week courtship.  They were married 63 years before Elbert passed away in December, 2006.

Helen is survived by two daughters, Sherri Reed and Becky Ellison both of Norman;  she was Mema to five grandchildren and Gigi to eight great-grandchildren, Shelley Reed Ackermann, husband Ralph and son, Garret of San Diego, CA, Megan Reed and daughter, Shelby of Norman, James Reed, wife Angela and daughter Haley and sons Kirby and Spenser of Norman, Christina Ellison of Norman, Shawn Ellison, wife Kim and son Ashton and daughters, Riley and Karsyn of Norman; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and countless long time friends.

The family will be greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Havenbrook Funeral Home.
Arrangements for Helen and her family were placed in the care of the Vice Family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
