Pounds, Austin, 20, passed away of respiratory failure after battling muscular dystrophy for 20 years, on Saturday, September 8, 2012 in Norman, Oklahoma.  He was born April 3, 1992 in Norman to Robert and Linda (Shoup) Pounds. 

Austin was an avid fan of Hooters, OU Sooners, OKC Thunder, the Minnesota Vikings and his high school, Norman North.  He loved playing video games, building legos and model cars, and reading.  He also enjoyed school and spending time with his friends.

Austin is survived by his parents, Linda Pounds of Norman and Robert Pounds of Warr Acres; his twin brother, Robert Andrew Pounds of Norman; two sisters, Katherine Taber and husband Todd of Keller, TX and Sarah Spores of Norman; grandparents, Jim and Frances Shoup of Houston, TX and Bob and Carol Pounds of Kingwood, TX; nieces, Gracie Spores of Norman and Alexa Taber of Keller, TX who hold a special place in their Uncle Austin's heart; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. 

He is preceded in death by his aunt, Terri Shoup and his uncle, Don Shoup.

Donations may be made to The Children's Center, 6800 N.W. 39th Expy, Bethany, OK 73008; http://tccokc.org/ and the Norman North Special Education Program, 1809 Stubbeman Ave., Norman, OK 73069. 

Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 11, 2012 and 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 12, 2012 with the family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Havenbrook Funeral Home.

The family requests that you honor Austin by wearing his favorite teams apparel or the OCC and Paul Jr. designs to his memorial service.

Services will be held 6:30 p.m., Thursday, September 13, 2012 at First Baptist Church, 211 W. Comanche of Norman.  Arrangements for Austin and his family have been placed in the care of the Vice Family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
