Ruth Malicoat, age 87 of Noble, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at her home. She was born July 31, 1927 in Wanette, Oklahoma. She was the 3rd child of five children. Her parents were William Jackson Hopkins and Lou Effie (Blevins) Hopkins. Ruth grew up west of Wanette and attended school at Liberty Hill. She later attended Wanette schools where she graduated with the class of 1946. One year after high school she married Jesse Dee Malicoat. They were married on December 9, 1947 in Purcell. For many years, Jesse worked in the pipeline business so they lived in many different states while he followed work. They lived in Iowa, California, Washington, Texas and Oklahoma to name a few. In 1959 they moved back to Oklahoma and settled in Purcell. That same year Ruth and her sister Laverne attended beautician school. Then in 1960 together they opened “Cut-n-Curl” beauty shop on Gros Ventre Street in Purcell. In 1961 she made her permanent home in Noble while working in Purcell. Ruth worked as a beautician for 44 ½ years before retiring at the age of 78. Throughout her life, Ruth enjoyed sewing, embroidering and quilting. For seven years she enjoyed quilting with the “Peace Makers” a ladies group at First Baptist Church in Noble. Ruth also enjoyed cooking and traveling. Throughout her life, Ruth had traveled to every state in the U.S. except Hawaii and Alaska. She was a faithful Christian and member of the Noble First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by: Parents, William and Effie Hopkins; Husband, Jesse Malicoat on June 3, 2000; A brother, Roy Hopkins; Two sisters, Edith Higgins and Laverne Hickman;

She is survived by: Two children, Jerry Malicoat of Noble, Cheryl Sterling and husband Dewayne of Noble; A sister, Margie Hackett and husband John of Tecumseh; A brother-in-law, Clyde Hickman of Purcell; Four grandchildren, Kylie, Newly, Amber and Dennis; Three great grandchildren, Riley, Jayci and Hattie; Several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. Burial will follow at the Noble I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
