Ella Lucille Witt went to be with her Heavenly Father on July 20, 2018.

She was born April 23, 1933 in Lexington, Oklahoma. She was the 7th child of 12 children born to Hugh Jeremiah Newville and Ora Bea (Yandell) Newville. She grew up a farm girl and attended school at Spring Hill, later Lexington High School where she graduated with the class of 1950. Lucille went on to graduate from Paul’s School of Cosmetology in OKC.

Lucille married the love of her life, Leon Kertis Witt on December 26, 1950 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Together they raised two sons, Kertis and Steven. Lucille and Leon traveled in many states while he was in the Army. Later she owned a daycare center for 10 years and to this day she was still in touch with many of those children. After graduating from Paul’s School of Cosmetology she remained a cosmetologist for 44 years. During that time she owned her own shop for 18 years. Lucille was a faithful Christian and an active member of Bethel Baptist Church in Norman for many years. She served on several committees and over the last several years she and Leon served on the Bereavement Committee.

Lucille enjoyed cooking, going to church and staying in touch with her family.

She was a wonderful wife, a loving mother and grandmother and she was a special sister to all of her siblings. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was proceeded in death by:

Her parents,         Hugh and Ora Newville,

Son,                      Steven Witt,

Six brothers,        Haskell, Harold, Hubert, Elmo, Larry and Arnold,

Three sisters,       Elsie Henderson, Velda Newville and Gayle Newville.

She is survived by:

Her husband,       Leon Witt of the home in Norman,

One son,               Kertis Witt and wife Merilyn of San Marcos, TX,

One sister,           Sue Ingraham and husband Keith of Springfield, MO,

One brother,        Van Newville of Noble, OK,

A daughter-in-law,        Chris Witt of Doniphan, MO.

Six grandchildren,        Brett Witt of Mulvane, KS, Kandi Witt of  Summerville,SC,             Morgan Witt of Austin, TX, Danny Kristek of Pretty Prairie, KS,                                       Jeremiah Kristek of Edmond, OK and Brad Lankard of Harper, KS,

12 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at Bethel Baptist Church, 1717 W. Lindsey, Norman, OK. Officiating will be Rev. James Ehrlich.

Interment will be at Lexington cemetery, Lexington, OK.

Memorials may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Bereavement Committee. Arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
