Frieda Wharton

Funeral services for Frieda Wharton, 83, of Norman will be held today (Thursday), Sept. 1, 2005 at Alameda Baptist Church with the Rev. Phil Ratliff officiating. Interment will be at Lexington Cemetery under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
Mrs. Wharton died Aug. 29, 2005 at Grace Living Center in Norman.
She was born March 26, 1922 in Elmore City, the oldest of five children of Harry W. Wharton and Ritta T. Welch Wharton. She was reared in the Lindsay area, graduating from Hughes High School in 1940.
She married Floyd A. Robinson in February 1944 and together they had one son. Mr. Robinson died in early 1951 and she later met and married L.W. "Butch" Wharton Dec. 6, 1951. Together they had one daughter, Elaine.
The Whartons lived in the Purcell and Lexington area until 1973. After Mr. Wharton died, she moved to Norman.
Mrs. Wharton worked as a beautician most of her life. She was a member of the Eastern Star for over 40 years and a member of the Alameda Baptist Church in Norman since 1978.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Floyd A. Robinson and L.W. "Butch" Wharton; one son, Micky Robinson; one sister, Rose Widing and one infant brother.
Survivors include one daughter, Elaine Wells and her husband, Steve, of Goldsby; two sisters, Florence Denson of Pauls Valley and Norma Lawson of Norman; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Pallbearers will be Casey Wells, Rikki Robinson, Jason Girod, Randy Wells, Duane Wells and Richie Wells.
