James Lavoy Vaughn, the firstborn son of James Alexander and Jewel Anderson Vaughn, was born in Estelline, Hall Co., Texas on February 8, 1927. Soon afterward the family moved to Hood Co, Texas where he grew up in the Mambrino Community. James committed his life to the Lord at 7 years of age and walked closely with Him throughout his life. In 1945 at the age of 17, James volunteered to serve in WWII, joining the Navy as a Seabee assigned to Okinawa. In 1956 he met Mary Ruenell Wasson and they married on September 13th and made their home in Pampa, Texas. To them were born Carol Anne, James Lavoy, Jr. and Jana Kaye. James worked for Phillips Petroleum Refinery in Borger, Texas for about 15 years then, in 1965, he started working for Celanese Chemical Co, where he retired in 1990. At retirement James and Nell relocated to their home on 5 acres near Purcell, OK where they enjoyed country life. He and Nell were faithful members of Sunray Baptist Church and James enjoyed operating Vaughn’s Watch and Clock Repair for many years as well as maintaining their garden and orchard and reading mystery and western books. On October 20, 2018 James entered into the presence of Jesus after a brief illness.

James is preceded in death by:
his parents; a brother, Jerry Vaughn; sister Alta Plumlee;
son, James Lavoy, Jr.; daughter Jana Kaye Brown; and
two granddaughters, Janella Marie Just and Alyta Nettles.

He is survived by
his wife of 62 years, Mary Ruenell of the home and
daughter Carol Just (Johnny) of Oklahoma City;
daughters from his first wife, Jean Flippo, Darla Ritch of Amarillo, TX and Elaine Nettles (David) of Mangum, OK;
sister, Lovelle Francis and brother Charles Vaughn both of Texas;
grandchildren Sean Parks, Jason McSwain, Timothy Ritch, Jaimie Weihermueller, Chelsea Merideth, Tylan McSwain, and Talaya Dube;
20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-granddaughters and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at the Sunray Baptist Church in Purcell.

Burial will follow at the Lexington Cemetery.
