Lavada Ann DeSelms, age 76 of Lexington, passed away Thursday September 12, 2013, at the Norman Regional Healthplex. Lavada was born on September 13, 1936 in Byars, OK, the oldest of 3 children born to Lawrence L. Box and Martha Ann (Draper) Box . She spent her school years in Lexington where she graduated in 1954. She then attended St. Anthony Nursing School in Oklahoma City for a short time. Lavada married Donald Wilbur DeSelms and together they raised 2 children, son, David and daughter Jean. Lavada worked as an underwriter in insurance for many years before retiring from the Hartford Group Insurance in OKC. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and she cherished her grandchildren. Lavada loved tending to her vegetable garden and an avid reader. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for family get togethers. She has attended the Christian Life Assembly in Lexington for many years.

She was preceded in death by: Her parents, Lawrence and Martha Box; Her Sister, Geraldine Hartner; Her Brother, Donald Ray Box and Her nephew, Jeff Box.

Lavada leaves behind: Her daughter, Jean Salmon and husband Mark of Lexington; Her son, David DeSelms and wife Saundra of Norman; 2 grandchildren, John Curtis Cline and Derek Erin DeSelms; 3 great grandchildren, Austin, Savannah and Hayley; Sister-in-law, Louise Box of Lexington; Niece, Dawn Marie Box; Nephew, Michael Box and A host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 16, 2013, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Lexington Cemetery.
