Buel Leon Anderson, 82 of Wayne, went to be with his Lord on February 11, 2013, after a long illness.

He was the eighth of nine children born to James Franklin and Nellie (Mosier) Anderson on October 16, 1930, in Maysville, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Nellie Anderson, and a son-in-law, Bruce McCray.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Patricia (Shaha) Anderson; Children, Debra Childress and son-in-law, Larry of Tuttle, Capt. Robert Anderson, US Navy, retired & daughter-in-law, Janice of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Pam McCray of Purcell; Grandchildren, Virginia Anderson, Abbey Childress, Jason Childress, Bryan Anderson & Vanessa Anderson; 3 great-grandchildren; and numerous other loved ones.

Buel was proud to serve his country faithfully for 20 years, retiring from the US Navy as an officer. Upon retiring from the US Navy, Buel worked for the US Postal Service and sold real estate. He had a passion for the country life and loved gardening and farming. Buel was an enthusiastic OU Sooner fan. He was a lifelong collector of gospel music. Buel was respected and loved by his family and friends, sacrificing and encouraging all he knew through word and deed.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Friday, February 15, 2013 at Chappel Hill Cemetery, East of Lexington, Oklahoma. Brother Jimmy Balentine officiating. Arrangements by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell, OK.
