C. Ray Smith

Funeral services for C. Ray Smith will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Shoals Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Buchanan officiating and burial following in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Ray passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2010, in Paris, Texas, at the age of 85. Ray Smith was born August 30, 1925, in Frogville, Oklahoma, the son of Robert and Sarah Myrtle (Baugh) Smith. Ray served in the U.S. Army during World War II and Korea with the 180 Infantry. He had lived in this area for over thirty years. He married Annette Abbott on May 15, 1971, in Garland, TX. Ray was a member of the Shoals Baptist Church where he served the Lord as Sunday School Director and Assistant Sunday School Director. He had worked for Star Vending Company in Ft. Worth, TX. For most of his life he owned and operated his own paint & body shop. Ray worked for twelve years as an instructor in the paint & body shop at the Vo-Tech in Hugo, OK. Ray loved to hunt and fish.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, R.L Smith, Joe W. "Curly" Smith, Wayne Smith, and Billy Smith; two sisters, Ruth Mathis and Violet Foster.

Ray is survived by his wife, Annette Smith of the home; one son, Ronnie Smith of Hugo, OK; one daughter, Sheila Church of Hugo, OK; six grandchildren, Jeff Smith of Houston, TX, Kris Smith of Longview, TX, Jill Fitch of Melissa, TX, Casey Church of Hugo, OK, Josh Church of Paris, TX and Sarah Church of Knoxville, TN; thirteen great-grandchildren, Bradley, Heather, Lindsey, Katy, Rex, Ryan, Hunter, Josh, Jackson, Devin, Joseph, John, Serena; one great-great-grandchild, Kinsley; and one brother, Glen Smith of Horatio, AR.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 3, 2010, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel in Hugo, OK.
