James Calvin "Cal" Hopkins
February 24, 1938 - October 13, 2017

Cal Hopkins, 79, of Hurst, TX, passed away surrounded by his loved ones October 13, 2017. Cal was born James Calvin to Dock and Sue (Howse) Hopkins February 24, 1938 in Durant, OK.

Cal met the love of his life, Sharon Reynolds, at Southeastern Oklahoma State University and they were married October 24, 1958 in Durant, OK. Cal had obtained his Masters’ Degree and was a beloved teacher and educator.

Cal lived in Hugo, OK for 20 years before moving to Hurst, TX in 1964. While living in Hugo, he was affiliated with the First Baptist Church of Hugo. He later was affiliated with Shady Oaks Baptist Church in Hurst, TX. Cal was a coach for several tennis and golf students, whom played professionally. Cal loved being able to teach and had a love for each of his students. He also taught Sunday School in church.

Cal leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Sharon, of the home; son, Brad Hopkins, of Hurst; daughter, Amy Hopkins Wilson, of Ft. Worth; three grandchildren, Peyton Gregory, Jon Thomas, and Lillian Alexis Wilson, all of Ft. Worth; and a host of many friends.

Cal was preceded in death by his parents, Dock and Sue Hopkins; and two sons, James Gregory and James Calvin (Jr.) Hopkins.

A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at 2:00PM, at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hugo, OK, with Pastor Doug McClure officiating.
