A time of visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Marietta, OK.

Sue began this life on September 24, 1942, in Phoenix, AZ the daughter of Ivon and Irene (Wilson) Bell. She grew up and attended schools in Richmond, CA and later graduated high school in Turlock, CA. Sue continued her education in Modesto, CA where she received her LVN license. Sue married Donny Ray Curry on April 24, 1960, in Turlock. The two would spend a few more years in California before coming to Southern Oklahoma in December of 1976. Sue worked as a nurse for the Love County Hospital and Clinic for 36 years until her retirement in 2013 after serving 46 years in the nursing field.

Sue had a huge personality, she loved to laugh, in fact she was usually the one causing the laughter, she was quite funny. She cherished people and the relationships she built with them, she especially loved learning about each person’s individual story. She loved her family deeply; nothing made her happier than to be with her family.  While living in California, Sue had very close relationships with all her cousins, oh the things they could get into and the stories they could tell.  She enjoyed reading and working puzzle books. Traveling was her favorite hobby, she took many trips with her husband Don, with her daughters, and with some of her closest friends.  Concerts were also a thing she enjoyed with friends, there are many funny stories from those trips as well.  Sue was passionate about being a nurse, she loved every minute of her 46 years of caring for others in the profession she chose. She especially loved her time at Mercy Love County Hospital and Clinic, where so many of her special memories were made.  Sue and Don took pride in having a beautiful yard, making it colorful and bright. They made quite a team in all they did together, he was truly her best friend for 53 years.

Sue was of the Baptist faith and was involved with bible studies and church services at Emmanuel Baptist church, where she was a member since 2013. In the past few years while living at Canoe Brook Assisted Living and Anthology of Denton Memory Care, Sue made many new friends, she was always the life of the party and was loved so well by the staff and residents at both places. If you’ve ever met Sue Curry, you loved her and will never forget her infectious smile.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents; by the love of her life and husband, Donny; by a brother, Bill Bell; by an infant sister, Shirley Wilson; by a niece, Denise Fall; and by a nephew, Billy Bell.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Lori Price and husband Ted of The Woodlands, TX and Kelley Kretzschmar and husband Charles of Thackerville, OK; grandchildren, Blake Jones and wife Kaydie of Houston, TX, Caleb Kretzschmar of Denton, Parker Price of Dallas, TX, Riley Price of Portland, OR, and Macy Burgess and husband Brian of Dallas; a great-granddaughter Addison Kretzschmar; nieces, Dina Sapp and husband Rusty of Clinton, UT Dana Bell of Durant, OK, and Candy Bell of Santa Maria, CA; and a sister-in-law, Helen Bell of Spokane, WA.
