Lonnie G.D. Shotts January 3, 1926 ~ November 18, 2007

Funeral services for Lonnie G. D. Shotts, 81, will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2007 in the chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home. conducted by Mr. Ben Bailey.

Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by the U. S. Navy. Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home will direct services.

Son of the late George Dewey and Alma Ann [Smith] Shotts, Lonnie was born January 3, 1926 at Rush Springs, Oklahoma. He died at the Oklahoma Veterans Center Sunday, November 18, 2007 after an extended illness.

His first wife, Joyce Walden Shotts and a brother, Nathaniel Shotts preceded him in death.

A graduate from Rush Springs High School Class of 1944, Lonnie entered the U. S. Navy the following year. During World War II he served aboard the USS Cumberland Sound and the USS Pine Island in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the American Campaign Medal and the Victory Medal. Following his honorable discharge from military service he was employed by the Texaco Oil Company as a Marine Seismic Crew Supervisor. After 39 years of service with Texaco he retired and for many years was engaged in breeding and raising fine registered beef cattle.

He was a member of the McLish Avenue Church of Christ.

In 1947 he and Joyce Walden were married at Wichita Falls, Texas. She died November 15, 1997. He and Clara Jackson were married December 6, 1998 at Ardmore.

Survivors include his wife, Clara of the home; a sister, LaVerne Biskup, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; stepchildren, Carolyn Welch, Moscow, Russia and David Jackson, Crossville, Tennessee. Nephews, Kevin Shotts, Rush Springs, Oklahoma and Bill Biskup, Texas City, Texas. Also four step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren.

Serving as bearers will be David Jackson, Carlas Williamson, Jimmy Snodgrass, Eldon Kay, Kevin Shotts and Martin Dotson.
