Joan Quarles passed away peacefully on February 1, 2024, at her home in Mead, Oklahoma, at the age of 86. Born on August 26, 1937, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Joan's life was one of adventure, family, and an entrepreneurial spirit that touched many.
Joan was the cherished daughter of Eugene and Noma Tate. Her life journey led her to the love of her life, Jesse Quarles, whom she married on December 21, 1956 in Durant, Oklahoma. Together they built not only a family but also a successful business. With the help of her husband and son Kip, Joan was the proud owner/operator of Red River Recycling, a testament to her hard work and dedication. Her adventurous soul found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Joan was an avid cook, a talented quilter, and an enthusiastic traveler. Her love for the thrill of the casino was only matched by the love she had for her family.
Her legacy is carried on by her loving daughters, Kristie Stout and husband Steve of Wichita Falls, Texas, Kelly Webb of Mead, Oklahoma, and Tracy Myers and husband Michael of Durant, Oklahoma. She was a cherished grandmother to Aaron Quarles, Lindsay Bartik, Casey Stout, Alyssa Sparks, Spencer Sweeney, Logan Sweeney, Hillary Cross, Joey Wetter, Hannah Wetter, Baylie Barrick, and Brooklyn Barrick, as well as to her great-grandchildren including Presley Quarles, Braden Quarles, Eden Bartik, Beatrix Bartik, Twyla Stout, Rylee Stout, Quillie Stout, Asher Stout, Levi Stout, Isaac Piazza, Lillie Piazza, Madison Sparks, Roger Sparks, III, Emma Sparks, Brayden Sparks, Remy Sweeney, Royal Sweeney, Conley Sweeney, Burkley Cross, Rafen Cross, and Hallie Cross. Joan also leaves behind her devoted caregiver, Melody Baker.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Noma Tate, her beloved husband Jesse Quarles, her sons Kip Quarles and Scott Quarles, and her grandchildren Jessica Piazza and Austin Barrick.
Her funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Chapel with her grandson Casey Stout officiating. There will be a visitation one hour before the funeral from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Joan will be laid to rest in Highland Cemetery following her funeral service. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
