Orval Pate, a resident of Durant, Oklahoma, left this earthly life at the age of 100 on June 8, 2020. He was born in Soper, Oklahoma to Thomas Jefferson Pate and Margaret Ada Pate on December 6, 1919. A chapel service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday June 13, 2020 at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Chapel with Chaplin David Kautt officiating. He will be escorted to his final resting place at the Highland Cemetery by Shawn Wallis, Gary Wallis, Justin Steakley, Joe Shuffield, Curtis Pate, Chris Wallis and James Murchburger.
Orval at one time owned a laundry mat in Antlers, Oklahoma. He was a hard worker and was employed by Fashion Cleaners in Durant as a presser for more that 25 years. One of his greatest pleasures was helping his cherished children and grandchildren.
Mr. Pate is survived by his beloved grandchildren, Gary Wallis of Atlanta, Georgia, Shawn Wallis of Durant, Oklahoma, Shannon Shuffield of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jesscel Steakley of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Audra Minton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Gary Pate, Jr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Curtis Pate of Choctaw, Oklahoma, numerous cherished great grandchildren, and also survived by other relatives and friends.
Mr. Pate was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Jefferson Pate and Margaret Ada Pate, son, Gary Pate, Sr., daughter, Theresa Pate, and preceded in death by his siblings.
