Mary Elizabeth (Sanders) Hockett

February 25, 1940 ~ April 4, 2023

Mary Elizabeth (Sanders) Hockett of Cartwright passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at the age of 83. She was born February 25, 1940 in Dallas, Texas to George Washington and Freda Marie (Davis) Sanders.

Mary loved spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed her grandkids. Mary liked spending time outdoors camping, and gardening. Her favorite pastimes were reading, sewing, and cooking. She also enjoyed taking trips and going to festivals. Mary was of the Baptist faith.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Sonya Presson, granddaughters Mandy Schulenberg and Bridgette Mahon and husband Mike, her grandson Brad Presson, her great granddaughters Aleah Schulenberg, Presley Mahon, and Madison Mahon, and her great grandsons Dylan Schulenberg, William Mahon, and Warner Mahon.

Preceding her in death are her parents George and Freda Sanders, husband James Hockett, daughter Karen Miller, brother Earl Sanders, and sister Clara Schimmel.

Family Hour will be held Thursday, April 6, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 7, 2023 at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Chapel with Jessie Hopkins officiating. Mary will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery following her funeral service. Those serving as pallbearers are Lonnie Sanchez, Brad Presson, Brian Sanders, and Ricky Pratt.
