Frances Ann Pickar

Frances Ann Pickar, a beacon of love and faith, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2023, in Greenville, Texas, at the age of 84. She was born on September 27, 1939, in St. Louis, Missouri to Joseph A. and Bertha L. (McDowell) Plafcan.

Frances's professional life was marked by her dedicated service as a Bar Manager at the VFW. She was an active member of the Women's Council of VFW and served with distinction in the Women's Auxiliary in Mesquite, Texas, for over two decades. Her commitment to her community was unwavering and deeply appreciated by all who knew her.

A devout Catholic, Frances found great joy in attending mass, reading the Bible, and living a life guided by her faith. Her love for her family was unparalleled, and she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren. Frances also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, such as working on word puzzles, which provided her with quiet moments of reflection.

Frances was the cherished matriarch of a large and loving family. She is survived by her devoted sons, Jerome Pickar, Jr. of Quinlan, Texas, Ted Pickar of Ferris, Texas, and Eddie Pickar; her loving daughter, Renee Plumlee of Rockwall, Texas; her adored seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sisters-in-law, Merlene Stepp of Chicago, Illinois, Pat Kelsey of Caddo, Oklahoma, and Sandra Plafcan of Durant, Oklahoma.

Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerome Pickar; her parents, Joseph and Bertha Plafcan; her granddaughter, Sonja Rae Pickar; and her brothers, William, Robert, Richard, Charles, Joseph, and Andrew Plafcan.

Frances Ann Pickar will be remembered as a loving and faith-filled woman, whose presence enriched the lives of those around her. Her legacy of kindness, devotion, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire her family and friends for generations to come.

Family Hour of visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home. Frances will be laid to rest following a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo, Oklahoma.
