January 1, 1934 ~ April 1, 2024

'

Syble (Ammons) Franklin passed away peacefully at home with her husband by her side, on April 1, 2024, at the age of 90 in Durant, Oklahoma. Born on January 1, 1934, in Caddo, Oklahoma, Syble's life was a testament to her unwavering faith and dedication to her family.

Syble's journey began as the daughter of Mack and Lola Mae (Price) Ammons. She grew up surrounded by a large and loving family, and although she was preceded in death by her parents and several siblings, her nurturing spirit was a product of the close bonds she shared with them throughout her life.

Syble's heart found its match in Alvin Franklin, and together they built a life filled with joy and commitment. Their marriage of 73 years was a source of inspiration to all who knew them. The couple was blessed with two children, Kevin Franklin of Durant, Oklahoma, and Ladonna Lawrenson, along with her husband Mark, also of Durant. Syble's legacy continued to flourish through her six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her teachings of love and dedication.

A pillar of the Robinson Baptist Church for 68 years, Syble's faith was the cornerstone of her existence. Her involvement in the church community reflected her belief in service and fellowship. Syble's professional life as a teacher assistant at Northwest Heights Elementary in Durant spanned 23 years, where she touched the lives of countless children with her patience and wisdom.

Syble's interests were a reflection of her nurturing soul. She found joy in cooking, gardening, and sewing, always eager to share the fruits of her labor with those she loved. Her hands, ever busy taking care of her family, were an extension of her generous heart.

Syble is survived by her husband, Alvin Franklin; her children, Kevin Franklin and Ladonna Lawrenson and husband Mark; her grandchildren, Jordan Franklin, Jeremy Franklin and wife Rachel, Jessica Gordon and husband Tyler, Naomi Culley and husband Luke, and Luke Lawrenson; her brothers, Bill Ammons and wife Carol and Mack Ammons Jr. and wife Lyla; and her cherished great-grandchildren. She was a guiding light in their lives and will be profoundly missed.

The family will welcome visitors at her Family Hour from 7:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Robinson Baptist Church with Brother Mark Harris and Brother Darel Bunch officiating. Syble will be laid to rest at Gethsemane Cemetery following her funeral service.

Those serving as pallbearers are Jordan Franklin, Jeremy Franklin, Hunter Franklin, Sadie Franklin, Tyler Gordon, Ryan Gordon, and Steven Traw.

Services are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, 121 North 5th Street, Durant, Oklahoma 74701. www.holmescoffeymurray.com.
