The funeral for Roderick Clark Smith Sr., 71, of Weatherford, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, at Canton City Community Center. The Revs. John Copeland, Chris Traffanstedt and Gerald Panana will officiate. Cremation will follow the service and a private family inurnment service will be held at a later date in Zion Mennonite Indian Cemetery, south of Canton. Arrangements are by Nichols Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Fairview. Traditional wake services will be held throughout tonight starting at 7 at Canton City Community Center.

He was born Dec. 19, 1938, in Baltimore, Md., to George Norris and Muriel Clarke Smith and died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at Geary Nursing Center.

He graduated from high school and enlisted in the Air Force, serving for eight years.

He married Olivia Ramona Sutton Sept. 18, 1960, in Altus.

He attended St. Timothy Episcopal Church when he lived on the East Coast.

Surviving are his wife, Olivia; his children, George Frank Sutton II, Roderick Clark Smith Jr., David Craig Smith, Rena Muriel Yates, Cynthia Jean Bond and Kimberly Ann Steirer; two sisters, Maratha Ann Sennif and Jean C. Jenkins; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter and three brothers.
