Mary Ann Thurston passed from this life October 9, 2017. She has begun a journey Accompanied by Angels, traveling through the unknown expanse of space, passing by unknown worlds her God's hands have created.

Her final destination and dwelling place will be in the mansion created for her by her Lord and Savior. There she will experience utmost joy standing face-to-face with her Savior, The Christ!

Although our experience of losing her is one of severe grief, we are grateful that such a woman lived and that we were graced by her tender love.

Service will be held at Garriott Road Church of Christ at 10:00 AM Thursday, October 12th.

Graveside service and burial will be at 2:00 PM at Watonga, OK.

Friends and relatives will meet following graveside service at United Methodist Church, Watonga.

Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home & Crematory, Enid.

Mary Ann was born June 2, 1933, on a farm southwest of Watonga, the only daughter of Vere and Nina Lillian (Pierce) Shaklee.

She attended the Prairie View Country Elementary School and graduated from high school in Watonga, where she was vice president of her senior class.

She married Dwayne Karns in June of 1950 and had 4 children; Mona Tyree & husband Doug Weisbruch, Mary Anita & husband Rick Cowan, Brett Dwayne & wife Jeanne and Bruce Alan & wife Diane.

Her love of music at a young age flowed over into many aspects of her life. While in school she accompanied the Glee Club and many soloists. She also taught individual piano lessons to students for several years while living in Kingfisher.

After moving back to Watonga, she played both the piano and organ for church services and directed the church choir.

Mary Ann was very involved with her family and community. She was a member of Rainbow, book club, bridge club, PEO and Methodist Women.

She supported many of her children's activities by being a homeroom mother & band and basketball mother.

In 1970, Mary Ann married Earnest Trevar Hoberecht of Watonga. She embraced his four small children into her life, instilling in them her own love of music.

These children are Toni Hobrecht and husband Shawn Schaefer of Tulsa, Trevar Hoberecht of Tulsa, Nathalie Kitson and husband Brian of Edmond and Shelley Spaeth and husband Mark of Tulsa. Mary Ann has a total of sixteen grandchildren.

Mary Ann and Fred Thurston were married April 7, 2001, and his three children and eight grandchildren were added to Mary Ann's caring love.
