Ora Lou (Walker) Harris

September 27, 1899 ~ October 1, 1982

Watonga – Ora Lou Harris, who taught for more than 30 years before her retirement, died Friday evening, October 1, 1982, in a hospital in Plainview, Texas. She was 83.

Funeral services for Mrs. Harris will be at 2 PM Monday in the First Baptist Church at Watonga with burial in the IOOF Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wilkinson Mortuary of Watonga.

Mrs. Harris was born in Montgomery, Louisiana, September 27, 1899. She and Edward Lee Harris were married at Maud December 25, 1926.

Mrs. Harris was a life member of the Oklahoma Education Association and the National Education Association. She was a member of the first Baptist Church in Watonga.

Mrs. Harris is survived by three sons, Clinton Harris of Woodward, the Rev. Reed Harris of Plainview, Merle Jay Harris, Oklahoma City; a brother, Ross Walker of Tyler, Texas; six grandchildren and a great – grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and an infant son.
